The Mont Luzerne streetscape will be reminiscent of the great European hill towns. The planning and design talents of the award-winning architectural firms Seth Harry and Associates and Torti-Gallas  provided important leadership to the design team. Their strong European architectural roots and experience as two of the world's leading Traditional Neighborhood (TND) planners helped to create a special vision for this very unique piece of land.
arch_3.jpgThe Cotswolds, a range of hills in west-central England very similar in terrain and natural features to Mont Luzerne, were discussed often in the design sessions and became one of the main architectural inspirations. Guided by a carefully planned design code, Mont Luzerne will emulate the best architectural and planning qualities of the traditional villages ad hamlets of the hill towns of northern Europe.  The composition of these villages grew out of the natural terrain and environment; on a hillside or overlooking water. arch_2.jpg Like Mont Luzerne, these village plans are informal yet impose an order on the land by framing spectacular views out towards the adjacent mountains or countryside, maximizing sunlight, and fitting into the natural terrain. Prior to design, Mont Luzerne's architects and planners performed extensive studies of sun movement, wind patterns and view corridors to provide informed and prudent planning to this extraordinary piece of land.

Drawing once again from The Cotswolds, in several locations cascading streams will be prominent features of the neighborhood. In Europe, villages grew up around water for transportation or power. Reminiscent of these precedents, Mont Luzerne has planned for some homes to be built along streams.
