On the Boards

"On the Boards" will show some of the various design aspects of Mont Luzerne as they are developing from concept to final plans.

Streetlights:

We commissioned David Peterhans, a talented Industrial designer from Michigan, requesting streetlight designs for the 3,000'  wooded entrance road through the Adirondack Park. Tapping David's vast experience, we've asked him to develop a "kit of parts" including streetlights, benches, the main entrance monuments, drinking fountains, directional signs, fencing etc... The materials we'll be using for these designs are mainly hand-hewn beams (like you might find in an old barn), wrought-iron and stone.

This is the initial concept that will be further developed:

David is also working on the entrance design (architecture, not landscaping) and below is one of the concepts we're considering. We've asked Dave to reshape the 30' vertical stone columns to show us some ideas with a waterfall cascading down the front of each stone column.

For now, the image below is the new working design. I was traveling in Napa this past summer and saw a vineyard sign with a wrought-iron coat of arms above the sign and asked Dave to incorporate that look into the horizontal section. We're still undecided about the tall stone column but that will evolve.
